Abstract
A method for extracting polarization features of the wideband radar target is studied for radar polarization detection of ground targets. Based on the full polarization data and HRRP, the polarization features of the target are extracted by an integrated approach including polarization detection, polarization decomposition and amplitude weighted. We use this method to process the full polarization data of an armored vehicle. The impact of four weighted methods on extracting target features is compared at first. The results show that linear weighted has better performance. The final results of the polarization features show that sphere scattering is the main scattering mechanism on the front and rear of the armored vehicle, while the dihedral scattering is the main scattering mechanism on both sides of the armored vehicle. And the sphere scattering on the rear part is more than on the front part. The experimental data processing results show that the polarization scattering features can be extracted by this method. And the different structure can be distinguished according the polarization scattering features.
