Abstract

An electropolishing device for cutting tool edge treatment is developed. It can remove the burrs produced by regrinding, and can change the micro geometric shape, and consequently, the quality and life of cutting tool are improved. The basic theory of electropolishing of cutting edge treatment is discussed in this paper. Electrolytic power supply, electrobath and electrolyte prescription for electropolishing of cutting edge treatment are devised. Experimental results have shown that the tap life which has been treated by an electropolishing device can be increased by more than one times, and the precision by one level as well.
