Abstract

In order to analysis the effects of the structural deformations of piston and cylinder liner on the piston slap motion characteristics, a V type highly intensified diesel engine piston dynamics model was built to calculate the piston motion characteristic parameters by using the AVL-EXCITE simulation platform and on this basis, the correlation among the structural deformations of the piston-cylinder liner, the piston motion characteristics and the piston slap force was discussed. The purpose of which is to show that the structural deformations of piston and cylinder liner are very important for modeling and analyzing the piston slap force, through which the variation of the piston slap force was obtained. The results demonstrate that the frequency of piston slap is relatively large together with higher slap kinetic energy at the top dead center and bottom dead center. Because of the structural deformations of piston and cylinder liner, make the maximum piston thrust slightly reduce, meanwhile the magnitude of piston striking and the frequency of piston striking cylinder liner decrease.
