Abstract
Two kinds of computer supported collaborative design modes based on I-DEAS are proposed. Architecture models and key developing technologies are described, the parametric update component of the CAD models is established via DCOM, and a technology of remote screen copy is adopted to implement 'What You See is What I See' among design terminals. Finally two modes are compared, and the collaborative design of crankshaft is taken as an instance to test them.
