Abstract

Based on the rapid prototype tool ControlBase, a control strategy for the opposed piston two-stroke engine was designed using the Matlab/Simulink software which was established by a modularization method according to the various operating conditions of the opposed piston two-stroke engine. The software modules included the starting control module, the rail pressure control module, the idle speed control module, the management module for engine operating points, the fuel quantity control module and other control strategies. The control MAP was designed and optimized by use of the combination of variable step and equal step which was verified on the test bed. The experimental results show that the control strategy is effective, the engine starting process exhibits the features of quick response and small overshoot speed, the fluctuation of the idle speed is less than 10 r/min, the fluctuation of the rail pressure at steady state is less than 5 MPa, the engine can work steadily and transform smoothly from one mode to another.
