Abstract

The bit error rate (BER) of wavelength conversion using distributed feedback (DFB) is discussed based on the theory model of all optical wavelength conversion realized by semiconductor lasers. The characteristics such as extinction ratio and BER of wavelength conversion are analyzed in different optical parameters including the injection current, the signal average power. Experimental results are studied synchronously using a set of experimental equipment of DFB semiconductor laser for all optical wavelength conversion. It can be found the result of experiment is accordant with theoretical analysis. Those results are useful to the optimal design of the wavelength converter based on semiconductor laser.
