Abstract

The currently used electrostatic detector is omni-directional in receiving information of electrostatic target and will be impacted by an electrostatic object in any direction. To provide the detection electrode with directional property as well as to prevent the disturbance from the electric fields in the other directions, an earth-shield detection unit is introduced in the detection system. It has been proved that it is possible to detect a special part of an electrostatic target using this system. By using the method of formula analysis, finite element emulation and prototype test, a principle has been provided in designing the detection unit practically according to the parameters of target in the future.
