Abstract

The dressing process of saucer wheel is different from that of face wheel. A kind of rod truing tool sintered by diamond powder was used to dress the saucer resin bond diamond wheel and the process was theoretically analyzed. The relationship was discussed between the dressing efficiency and other parameters, such as the feeding speed of the truing tool, the rotate speed of the spindle and the structure parameters of the wheel. Experiments were carried out to verify the analysis. The conclusion was drawn with regarding the face runout and the diameter runout of the diamond wheel workface as the measuring criterion of the dressing efficiency. The dressing efficiency is higher under the lower rotate speed in a special range, is related non-linearly with the feeding speed because of the consume of the truing tool, and is lower under higher density and smaller grain size of the wheel structure because there are more micro cutting edges.
