Abstract
The influences of chromatic dispersion compensation amount of chirped FBG and input optical power are simulated in both 10 Gbit/s and 16 × 10 Gbit/s chirped FBG dispersion compensated system. The simulation result shows that for a 10 Gbit/s chirped FBG dispersion compensation DWDM transmission system, if fiber chromatic dispersion amount is 1700 ps/nm, the compensation amount of 1600 ps/nm will make the system run normally. The conclusion is that the proper chromatic dispersion compensation amount of chirped FBG is not only lie on fiber chromatic dispersion amount, but also lie on fiber-input optical power and nonlinear effects. In order to obtain better system bit error rate (BER) performance, the chirped FBG compensation amount must less than fiber chromatic dispersion amount.
