Abstract

A linear or nonlinear pulse FM radar waveform generator was developed successfully. Waveform synthesis was made with the method of sampling directly the bandlimited IF signal and transforming the discrete values by high speed DAC. After analyzing it is concluded that compared to the traditional pulse FM radar waveform generator, for the narrow band signal, the pulse FM radar waveform generator based on IF sampling technique has optimal spurious level suppression capability and excellent flexibility and reliability. The result shows high performance indexes: in passband spurious level less than - 65 dB, outside passband spurious level less than - 70 dB, harmonic suppression less than - 60 dB, output power Pmw>10dB.
