The proximity effect of binuclear metal atoms breaks through the limitations of conventional mononuclear metal atoms to catalyze more complex catalytic systems. Recently, Niu et al. reported a novel binuclear complex with biomimetic Zn–Zn site achieving recycling of polyester plastics under mild conditions.
