Abstract

Cellulose acetate was prepared homogeneously in DMAc/LiCl without any catalyst. The structure and properties of CA prepared homogeneously and heterogeneously were compared by IR, 1H-NMR, X-ray diffraction and DSC. The results indicate that the substitution distribution on 2, 3, 6 position on the anhydroglucose unit of CA prepared homogeneously is more balanced than that of heterogeneously. The crystallinity of CA prepared heterogeneously deceases from 80% of cellulose to 40% compared with cellulose. While CA produced homogeneously changes into amorphous state completely. The Tg of CA prepared homogeneously is lower than that of heterogeneously, the light transmittance of solution of CA prepared homogeneously is higher than that of heterogeneously.
