Prediction of effective elastic modulus of C/C composites during manufacturing process

Abstract

To guide the actual manufacturing process of C/C composites under different temperature, the mechanical model for liquid phase formulation process of the composites is established by using Arrhenius equation, which is based on the chemical reaction in the manufacturing of the pitch precursor C/C composites. The variation of elastic modulus of matrix with the change of volume fraction for each component during the manufacturing is calculated and analyzed by using the homogenization method and stiffness average method. The effective elastic modulus of the fine-woven pierced C/C composites is also predicted by finite element method.
