Abstract

A photon counting imaging system consisting of photon imaging head, high frame frequency CCD camera, image sampling system and computer for measuring very low light level luminescence in organism has been developed and designed. It can quantitatively detect the luminescent intensity distribution of organism, display its luminescent image, determine its luminescent shape and position. The signal noise ratio of the system is 10:1. The minimal detecting power is as low as 10-16W. The system has high sensitivity and a large dynamic range.
