Abstract

The complex cavity is one of essentially structures of air vehicles, e.g., inlet duct and tail nozzle. Therefore, the scattered fields from the cavity are one of the most important scattering sources, which can be used to identify these kinds of structures. A scattering center (SC) modeling approach for complex cavities is introduced in this work, where geometrical optics (GO) with the full-wave numerical methods are used to obtain the locations and amplitudes of the SCs in the complex cavity. Two complex conducting cavities are investigated. The built models are validated through the comparisons between the simulated results by the models and those computed by full-wave numerical method. These results show that the models are of high precision in describing the signatures of cavities in the high resolution range profiles (HRRPs).
