Abstract
In this paper a hybrid tone mapping method was investigated to solve the problem of realistic image reproduction. Firstly, the image was preprocessed to keep the overall brightness and contrast. Then the local details and contrast information with parameter controlled hybrid operator were obtained. To solve halo artifacts, a bilateral filter was also presented for processing. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm is practical that effectively compresses the dynamic range, maintains the image details, removes the halo artifacts and improves significantly, in contrast to the sigmoid algorithm method.
