Abstract

This paper investigates the outage performance of a cooperative system with spatially random wireless powered relays and finite energy storage over Rayleigh fading channels. In the considered system, a destination (D) and a source (S) are both equipped with one transmit antenna to transmit power and information to relays, respectively. Meanwhile, relay candidates with one transmit antenna are spatially random distributed in a disc, the central of which the source locates in. A best relay (R) with the best source-relay link is selected to forward the decoded information to D. Further, D and all relay candidates are equipped NR (NR ≥ 1) with ND (Nd ≥ 1) receiving antennas and adopt maximal ratio combining scheme to process multiple received signals. The closed-form analytical expression for the outage probability is derived while considering relays are with finite energy storage. Simulations are conducted to validate the accuracy of our analysis.
