Abstract

This paper presents a new framework in the time domain for direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of multiple wideband signals. The new framework achieves additive rank-1 of signals from different directions through orthogonal representation technique, where the unified autocorrelation function (UAF) of the signal is introduced into the steering vector. Based on this framework, two methods named orthogonal representation minimum power (OR-MP) and orthogonal representation orthogonal projection (OR-OP) are proposed, incorporated with the rank-1 minimum power beamforming and the effective subspace projection techniques. Both methods require no sub-band decomposition/association and data focusing. The efficacy of the proposed methods is validated by computer simulations.
