Abstract
Based on the solution of Navier-Stokes equations and the standard k- ε turbulence model, numerical simulations of internal flows through two different concrete casings for the same runner are calculated in different operating conditions by using the body-fitted coordinate, the staggered grid system and the SIMPLEC algorithm. The simulated flow fields through the two casings are compared with each other. The results show that the turbulence model and the numerical method employed in the present work are precise and applicable to engineering utilization.
