abstract = "This paper aims to study the licensing mechanism of the verbs in a flip-flop construction in Chinese. It is found that the selection of the verbs in a flip-flop construction is constrained by the qualia structure, to be specific, the telic role, of a noun. When the lexical semantics of a verb matches the Telic role of the noun in a preverbal or postverbal {\textquoteleft}Num +Cl +N{\textquoteright}, it is licensed and the wellformedness of a flip-flop construction is predicted.",
