Abstract

This paper presents an approach to multi-paths problem produced by OTHR return signals propagating through the ionosphere. This method applying the data of the International Reference Ionosphere (IRI) model, through analyzing the relationship between vertical incidence and slant incidence based on radio-wave propagation theory, deducts the conversion from slant coordinate observations to ground or geographic coordinates. Simulation results show that the proposed method can effectively simulate the multi-paths effect when OTHR return signals propagate through the ionosphere, which provides aided information to increase the precision of coordinate registration.
