Numerical simulations of the radiation characteristics of reflector antenna under shock wave loading

Abstract

To investigate the influence of radiation characteristics of antenna due to its distortion caused by shock wave, the structural distortions of the antennae are simulated by LS-DYNA, and the radiation patterns obtained by FEKO. The models of antennae distortion gained by LS-DYNA are input into FEKO, which calculates the radiation patterns of different distortions of the antennae. According to the encounterod modes of shock waves and antennae, radiation patterns are studied under the three conditions, viz. frontal action, rear action and oblique action on antennae by the shock waves. Results showed that the simulation method is reliable and the influence of frontal action is much stronger than those of rear and oblique actions at the same distance.
