Abstract

In order to investigate the damage effect of explosion in concrete targets, the damaging processes of semi-infinite concrete targets with and without pre-drilled cavity and pre-drilled cavity with soil under explosion of cylindrical charge are numerically simulated using LS-DYNA program. The simulation method and material models of concrete are verified by comparing the simulation results with the experimental data. The damage zones of concrete targets under three cases are obtained by numerical simulations. The results show that radiuses of blasting crater and blasting funnel under the case of no pre-drilled cavity is biggest, and under the case of pre-drilled cavity is least. The particle velocities of the same location of concretes under three cases are compared by numerical simulations.
