Abstract

The numerical simulation of penetrator with enhance lateral efficiency(PELE) penetration into oblique homogeneous target has been carried out to investigate the comprehensive terminal effects of PELE, including penetration and fragments damage. The results demonstrate that the lateral efficiency of PELE sharpens and the residual velocity declines when the angle of attack increases. It is observed that the PELE terminal effect is affected by parameters of target thickness, target material and impact velocities. In addition, when the angle of attack increases, the changing trend of the sensibility of PELE terminal effect can be estimated with the changes of parameters mentioned above.
