Abstract

In order to understand water flow patterns through a pump-turbine runner and a axial-flow runner, the three-dimensional turbulent flow is calculated by numerical method based on Navier-Stokes equations and the standard k- ε model. The SIMPLEC algorithm with body-fitted coordination and staggering grid system is used for the solution procedure of the discretized governing equations for this problem. Velocity distribution and pressure distribution through the turbine runners are indicated.
