Abstract

The formation process of quasi-spheral explosively formed penetrator was analysed with AUTODYN-2D software and pulse X-ray photograph experiments. Structure parameters which forming quasi-spheral explosively formed penetrator were obtained by numerical simulation of different outer curvature radius parameters and thickness of liner parameters. Based on the rule of maximum kinetic energy, optimization structure of explorely formed penetrator was obtained. The results of numerical simulation are agreed with pulse X-ray photograph experiments. The conclusions and the results from numerical simulation and experiments are useful to the application and the design of explorely formed penetrator.
