Abstract

Firstly, a new map-matching algorithm based on curve similarity is proposed. It fully utilizes the road network information and history route information to find out the best matching route. Based on the precise digital map, the algorithm improves the performance of conventional match approaches that are computationally intensive and imprecise. Secondly, the heading and distance errors of dead reckon (DR) system can also be calibrated with the matched points on digital map. Experiment results demonstrate that this map-matching algorithm improves the matching accuracy of vehicle position; and the real-time revision of DR parameters can decrease the accumulative error and improve the navigation system precision.
