Abstract

Focusing fragment is one of key issues for design of advanced warheads. The geometrical optical focusing mechanism is provided. The similarity mechanism between the geometrical optical focusing and focusing of fragments of warheads is analyzed in details* and it was proved that the movement of fragment of warheads can be analyzed according to the theory of geometrical optics. And a new design model and method for focusing fragments of warheads was obtained. The design is preliminarily proved to be efficient by two warhead tests, and it is found that 85% of total fragment of the warhead can be focused within the designed zone, comparing to that of 70% obtained by the classical methods.
