Abstract

The microstructure characteristic of adiabatic shear bands in air-cooled bainitic steel exploded cylinder fragment were studied by means of OM, SEM, TEM and AFM. The results showed that the adiabatic shear band was a white band in fragment, and the adiabatic shear band had obvious difference in body structure, and some branch and fracture on the adiabatic shear band. Electron diffraction patterns showed that the phase in adiabatic shear bands as crystal structure with some dislocation cells and dislocation snarl. The adiabatic shear band is higher than the basic phase by AFM.
