Abstract

Mechanism of body area communication based on quasi-electrostatic field was explained in the paper from a view point of electrostatic induction. Human body was equivalent to a conducting sphere and the electrodes of transmitter were equivalent to two point charge with same quantities and opposite sign. The induced charge density on the surface of conducting sphere resulting from infinite image charge was calculated. Results show that density in the area which near inducing charges is extremely bigger than others in where the density seems uniform. Besides, induced charge concentrated slightly toward earth ground because of the effect of image charge. It means that the receive signal will be stronger when receiver has been located on foot.
