Abstract

Feature representation is vital to manufacturability evaluation, process planning, and NC programming. A machining oriented feature definition and taxonomy are proposed. Part is represented by B-rep representation with manufacturing information such as dimensions, tolerances, and surface roughness. The machining features are recognized by rule-based algorithms implemented in ACIS modeler. The manufacturability of each machining feature is evaluated based DFM rule.
