Abstract

In this paper, a systematic analysis model is developed to simulate the lubricated contact behaviors between roller large end and guide flange of inner ring in a double-row tapered roller bearing used in railway coaches. First, the location of contact point between roller large end and flange, the orbital and spinning speeds of the roller are determined theoretically in order to obtain the sliding velocities of the two contacting components. Then, by solving the governing equations of deflections of the inner ring, the load distribution in bearing is calculated with centrifugal force considered, as a consequence, the contact forces of roller-outer raceway, roller-inner raceway and roller large end-flange are obtained. At last, a lubrication analysis model is developed to analyze the contact formed between roller large end and inner ring flange, and the effects of spherical radius of roller large end and operating conditions on lubrication performance are investigated.
