Abstract

A low profile planar Yagi antenna array with a wide -angle beam tilted forward based on microstrip coupling is presented. The antenna unit consists of a reflector, a driven element and two directors. Through the duality of electric and magnetic and the theory of the planar Yagi antenna, the Ku-band low profile planar microstrip antenna is constructed. And then combined with the feeding network, the aim of a wide-angle beam tilted forward is achieved. The proposed antenna array can achieve S11<20dB with peak gain of 18.75dBi at 14GHz-15GHz, and effective beam forward angle up to 64.39°-74.07°. In the measurement, a high peak gain of 21.027dBi and a wide-angle beam tilted forward are achieved.
