Abstract
The effects of initial phenol concentration, pH value, and H2O2 on the photocatalytic degradation kinetics of phenol wastewater were studied in a spinning disk reactor. The results showed that the above operating conditions have little influence on the photocatalytic degradation of phenol, which follows pseudo-first-order reaction kinetics. The lower the initial concentration of phenol, the higher is the reaction rate; the extent of degradation is maximum at pH = 2; and the degradation rate is improved up to 78 times when H2O2 is added, due to synergistic effect.
