title = "Key performance study of micro-quartz gyro for measurement-while-drilling",
abstract = "Magnetometers used in the measurement-while-drilling (MWD) usually suffer from the deviation of the earth's magnetic field by a variety of external factors, and they are expensive and heavy. The solid vibration gyro based on Microquartz material, as a candidate to the Magnetometer surveying sensor in MWD, was presented in this paper. A rectangle shape vibrator supported by two rings was used at the vibration beam's node. Experiments demonstrated the designed structure was adequately for the isolation of detection motion from excitation motion and showed the feasibility of utilizing the sensor for MWD process downhole. The impact of severe downhole vibration on the performances of sensors was investigated by experiments. The temperature and temperature dynamics on using wavelet multi-resolution analysis is utilized to improve the micro-quartz gyro's performance. The suggested micro-quartz gyro-based surveying sensors technique can overcome the earlier shortcoming in the process of assembling and setup, and it offered a new solution of the inertial unit in MWD.",
