Abstract

The impulsive noise in power line communication(PLC) can lead to the performance degradation of the receiver. Blanking nonlinearity is usually used to eliminate the effect of impulsive noise for its simplicity and effectiveness. However, it reduces the received signal energy and brings additional intercarrier interference(ICI) in the orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing(OFDM) system. In this paper, we derive the ICI caused by blanking nonlinearity first. Considering the impact of ICI on the useful signal, we propose an iterative ICI cancellation scheme for the OFDM system. The ICI in pilot symbols and data symbols are estimated according to the channel frequency response and the estimated soft symbols. Numerical results indicate that our scheme can improve the performance of the channel estimation and the performance of the bit error rate of the receiver.
