Abstract

This paper outlines the mechanism of producing grating lobe and summarizes the used technologies of grating lobe suppression. The paper discusses the method which based on the technology of side lobe control in detail. Interfering signals are introduced at many angles throughout the side lobe region, which can control the side lobe and the main beam is pointed in the proper direction. For a large-spaced uniform linear array, by assuming that interfering signals are introduced at many angles throughout the grating lobe region or direction, and gets the follow conclusion: the direction of the main beam is shifted. And if the interfering signal is more power and the shifting is bigger. So the method is not applicable to grating lobe suppression, and is not affected by different beamforming algorithms. Simulation results verify it.
