Abstract

Separated sub-array radar (SSAR) can improve both angular accuracy and resolution at a reduced cost and technological requirements. However, the inherent high side-lobes deteriorate the performance, especially in the case of strong and time-varying interference. In this paper we apply SSAR for adaptive interference cancelation. Through analysis and simulations, the interference cancelation performances for multiple narrow-band jammers are investigated in three respects: the minimum variance at output, the optimum pattern performance and the transient period. The performance of two kinds of SSAR structures are compared with a uniform linear array (ULA) having the same number of elements as SSAR.
