Abstract

The TE/TM mode splitter using directional coupler was proposed. The TE/TM mode polarization was separated by the designed directional coupler with zero spacing in the space, which was simulated by using Rsoft's BPM software. The simulated extinction ratio of TE/TM mode is reached 21.2 dB and 19.5 dB respectively. The Ti diffused technology is adopted to fabricate the device on the X cut Y propagation LiNbO3 slice. The measured extinction ratio of TE/TM mode is 11.5 dB and 19.l dB respectively. The primary reasons are discussed.
