N2 - The identification and resolution system is the key infrastructure for industrial Internet, providing unique identification and resolution service for each physical entity (component, products, devices and systems) and virtual entity (model, algorithm, process). The identification and resolution system for industrial Internet is the cornerstone for data circulation and information interaction among enterprises in the whole value chain, enabling the optimization of the allocation of resources and information management. The identification and resolution system become more important as the application of industrial Internet becomes ubiquitous. Medical devices industry is one of the pioneers embracing industrial Internet technologies, with the identification and resolution system to provide identification registration, identification management, identification resolution and associated innovative applications. The aim of this work is to provide an overview of the identification and resolution system established for the medical device industry and its innovative traceability application. It is shown that there are many advantages using the identification and resolution system for industrial Internet, such as the improved operational efficiency and patient safety while minimized overall costs by the connected data and networking associated with the unique industrial identifier.
