Abstract

This paper analyses the variation of friction coefficient with the meshing position and then establishes a helical gear bending-Torsion-shaft vibration model considering time-varying friction, tooth backlash, and other nonlinear factors. The nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the helical gear meshing process and the influence of variable friction on the meshing process are analysed. The results show that the time-varying friction force obviously aggravates the vibration in the lowspeed stage of the gear meshing process, and the friction force is the largest at the contact point near the tooth root and tooth tip.
