Abstract
A formula was introduced based on time delay estimation of the acoustic sensor array and hyperbolic localization technology for calculating the azimuth and distance of the target. Then, the relation of the target azimuth error and distance error with the time delay estimation error, aperture size of the sensor array and the error of the distance between each sensor was analyzed using the formula. The results show that in the same original conditions, using large aperture arrays can significantly reduce the azimuth error and distance error, and it is much easier to meet the precision need of azimuth than that of distance.
