Abstract

The effects of rolling techniques and recrystallization annealing treatment on grain sizes of AZ31 magnesium alloys are studied. The results show that the first two deformations in pass of rolling are 10%. The third deformation in pass of rolling from 5% up to 40%, the grain sizes decrease gradually, from 19 μm to 11 μm. After rolling treatment, the magnesium alloys are recrystallization annealing treated, from 250°C to 450°C. Grain sizes grow with increasing annealing temperature. Especially, after treatment at 450°C, grain sizes grow distinctly. The greater rolling deformation, the grain sizes after annealing grow more notably.
