Abstract

The influence of different preserving media on the ultrafine diamond (UFD) production was studied through experiments and analysis. The speed of heat conduction between detonation products (DP) and outside media has great influence on UFD yield. The influence of the preserving media on pressure of the DP is also important to the yield of UFD. The results of experiments indicate that the charge should have a best diameter to improve the UFD yield. The yield of UFD has exceeded 10% using water or ice as preserving medium, which is more applicable than Mach-effect charge.
