Abstract

Aim To investigate the influence of cenosphere on the thermal resistance of polypropylene(PP) and synthetic leather. Methods The thermal resistance of PP and synthetic leather filled by cenosphere was studied by F-t curves from PGC data. The pyrolyzates of PP were identified by on-line pyrolysis gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (PGC/MS). Results The samples' thermal resistance increased with the amount of filled cenosphere and the amount of cenosphere might reach 40% - 60%. There were pyrolyzates above 230 °C of synthetic leather. The programs of PP samples and pure PP were the same. Conclusion The cenosphere, as filler material, can improve obviously the thermal resistance of the polymer materials. The cenosphere can not change the pyrolysis mechanics of PP.
