Abstract

Studies the ignition mode of solid propellant processed with high-pressure waterjet. Using piezoelectricity, thermoelectric couple and scanning electron microscope, the pressure peak, temperature rise and components variation of hydroyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) solid propellant processed with high-pressure waterjet are measured experimentally. Ignition modes of HTPB solid propellant processed with high-pressure waterjet are theoretically analyzed. The results showed that HTPB solid propellant containing ferrocene has three ignition modes when processed with high-pressure waterjet, and the mode in which a mixed system comprising ammonium perchlorate, ferrocene and vapor is ignited by mechanical spark or electrostatic spark is most likely to occur.
