Abstract

In order to explore the influence of different temperatures and pressures on the safety performance of GAP/CL-20 propellant, auto-ignition behaviors of GAP/CL-20 propellant under rapid thermal stimulation were studied by using high-speed imaging and dynamic pressure recording in rapid compression device, and the auto-ignition boundary of GAP/CL-20 propellant was obtained. The results show that the combustion of GAP/CL-20 propellant can be divided into two stages: pyrolysis and ignition, and it has the characteristics of layer-by-layer combustion and peeling. The right side of the sample and the angular position would be preferentially ignited due to the influence of gas disturbance on heat transfer during compression. Besides, the ignition delay time and combustion duration of GAP/CL-20 propellant decrease, and the pressure rise is advanced with an increase in temperature and pressure. The critical ignition temperature and burning rate decrease with increasing of pressure, but the decrease rate will slow down when the pressure reaches to a certain level.
