Fuel-oriented utilization of municipal sludge

Abstract

Experiment was carried out for the resource-oriented utilization of municipal sludge based on the method of RDF (refuse derived fuel). The optimal drying conditions of sludge and the effect of added proportion of pulverized coal on the combustion of sludge were examined. The results showed that the optimal drying time was 4 h and the heating value of dried sludge was about 18 MJ/kg, and the heating value of the sludge was changed with water content and organic content. Besides, the effective ingredients of sludge almost had no change when the drying temperature varied from 105 to 150°C. In addition, the hydrogen content was high in the sludge, so the ignition point of sludge was lower than that of coal.
