Abstract

A multi-stage stacked tray solar distiller with folded and enhanced condensation faces was designed. Field test had been carried out in actual weather in order to obtain its characters of temperature variation and water production. Inner temperature and water production variation curves were given. Input sunlight ratio of top stage distillation chamber was deduced and the efficiency of desalination equipment was calculated. Comparison between field test and steady state test was finished. Actual weather working characters and inner mass-heat transfer principle of this multi-effect distiller was also analyzed. The results showed that the fresh water yield can reach up to 43kg/d and its performance ratio can reach up to 1.54 in fine weather, and this distiller is desired desalination equipment.
