Abstract

The feasibility of light-emitting-diode (LED) applied to Photodynamic therapy (PDT) instead of laser in the field of space medicine is analyzed. The typical advantages of LED applied to PDT are introduced. Some experimental results show that LED can be used to PDT for various photosensitizers. The current situation of LED-PDT medical apparatus is mentioned. It is feasible that LED is used as the light source of PDT instead of laser. LED is a significant light source in the field of space medicine and plays a key role on the astronaut healthy support.
